FAQs
How do I place an order?
The first step is to fill out an order form providing as much information as possible regarding your event. From there, any additional consultation is done via email before being provided with a quote.
Once a quote is received, a 50% deposit will be required within 7 days to secure your booking, with full payment due 4 weeks prior to your event. For bookings made with less than one month notice, or with a value of $250 or less, full payment will be required.
Please note that bookings are only confirmed once a formal quote is received and the deposit is paid.
How much will my cake cost?
Halo & Horns Cakes are priced according to their size and design, with each cake being unique and requiring different amounts of skill and time to craft.
Choose the best cake size based on your guest count. We offer two serve sizes: 'Coffee' (1"x1") for smaller portions ideal for events with multiple desserts, and 'Dessert' (1"x2") for larger slices, perfect when the cake is the main dessert at sit-down events.
As a general price guide:
SINGLE TIER (7" tall)
Serves 16-34 dessert / 32-62 coffee
$250 - $400
EXTRA TALL SINGLE TIER (11" tall)
Serves 42-51 dessert / 72-96 coffee
$450 - $600
TWO TIER (approx. 14" tall)
Serves 50-90 dessert / 96-186 coffee
$550 - $850
THREE TIER (approx. 14" tall)
Serves 50-90 dessert / 96-186 coffee
From $850
Alternate Sizes: We also offer alternate sizes, four-tier cakes, and kitchen slab cakes upon request. Pricing for these will be quoted based on the size, complexity, and design requirements.
NOTE: The above prices are starting prices and do NOT include specific design elements, delivery or add-ons (florals, cake toppers etc).
Do you offer cake tastings?
Cake tasting boxes are available at least twice a year, depending on our schedule. Tastings are optional and not complimentary. Follow us on social media for announcements about the next round of Tasting Boxes, or email us to be notified when they are available for purchase.
you deliver?
Yes! a delivery service is offered, but this is limited to availability. Most clients will pick up on a Saturday morning, between 9:30-11:30am or at an alternate day/time discussed in the booking process.
Delivery is highly recommended for extra tall or tiered cakes to ensure a smooth, safe delivery and set up at your venue. Delivery is $50+, based on location.
How much notice do you require?
With limited spots each week for cake orders, it's best to reach out as soon as possible. A minimum of 3-4 weeks is recommended for special occasion cakes. Occasionally, last-minute orders can be accommodated depending on cake size and design, so feel free to inquire.
For weddings and large events, 4-6 months' notice is standard, but the sooner the better.
What happens if I need to change/cancel my order?
At Halo & Horns, we understand that plans can change, and we’re here to assist you. However, as a boutique cake business, we require sufficient notice to manage our schedule and resources effectively.
Changes to Your Order:
Significant changes to your order (e.g., design, flavors, or serving size) must be made no later than one month before the pickup/delivery date. Changes requested after this time may incur additional fees to cover reworking the design, sourcing materials, or labor already completed for the original order.Deposit Policy:
A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking. This deposit is non-refundable, as it reserves your date and begins the preparation process.Rescheduling & Cancellations:
If you provide at least 14 days’ notice, your deposit can be credited toward a new booking date (subject to availability).
For cancellations or changes made with less than 14 days’ notice, the deposit will be forfeited, and a new deposit will be required to secure a future booking.
Thank you for your understanding as we strive to create exceptional cakes and ensure the best possible service for your special day!
Are all your cakes buttercream?
All H&H cakes are filled and covered using a delicious variation of the French Buttercream recipe. The Signature Menu does also include additional fillings such as chocolate ganache, salted caramel, jams, fruit curds, crushed biscuits and nuts.
Can you accommodate dietary requirements?
All cakes are made in the same kitchen where nuts, gluten and dairy are present. Due to this, H&H does not offer any DF, GF or NF cakes.
Can my florist decorate the cake?
Unfortunately, others are not permitted to dress Halo & Horns cakes. The finishing touches are integral to the design, likely the very reason you chose Halo & Horns. However, in certain circumstances, collaboration with your florist is of course possible. They can provide the cake flowers, which will be prepared and placed on the cake before pick-up or at the delivery site.
Do you copy other cake designs?
In short, no. However, pictures can be very helpful during the initial inquiry and consultation process. Clients are welcome to send pictures of cakes for inspiration and discuss the elements they like. This helps in understanding the desired style better.
Can I create my own cake flavour?
The selection of cakes on the Signature Menu features tastes and textures perfectly crafted for the ultimate cake experience. However, if you would like to mix and match any flavor components or desire something different, accommodations can often be made.
How do I transport my cake?
Transport your cake on a flat surface in your vehicle (such as the floor in front of the passenger seat or the boot space) with the air conditioner on. While driving, take corners and brake slowly. Placing a piece of non-stick mat on the flat surface before putting down the cake box can be very helpful.
Important to note: If the cake is not being delivered directly to its final destination, it must be refrigerated before any further transport.
How do I store my cake?
Halo & Horn cakes must be refrigerated. For optimum taste, always serve your cake at room temperature. This depends on the season, however between 1-2 hours out of the fridge before cutting and eating is a safe time frame.
If you are not eating the cake on the day of pickup, store the cake (as given in its box) in a fridge with no odours. Fresh is always best! But it's good to know that your cake will store very well in the fridge for up to 7 days (decorations may vary).
How do I cut my cake?
Upon pick-up or delivery, a 'Cutting Guide' will be provided inside your cake box. Follow the instructions to ensure your cake is sliced into the correct number of servings for your guests.
For venues where staff will handle the cake cutting, instructions will be communicated directly to them.
